A Night of Murder and Intrigue at Loyal Manor No.6445

On the evening of Saturday 26 September, Loyal Manor Lodge was transformed into a scene of murder, mystery and intrigue as around 60 guests gathered for a thoroughly entertaining Murder Mystery Night.

The evening was brought brilliantly to life by six talented actors from the Weymouth Drama Club, whose enthusiasm and professionalism held the audience captive from the outset. What followed was a twisting tale of love, jealousy and ambition, liberally seasoned with wonderfully dry humour — and, of course, the small matter of a murder to solve.

As the plot unfolded, suspicions shifted, motives emerged and clues were carefully scrutinised. Around the room, amateur detectives compared notes and attempted to separate fact from fiction before reaching their verdict on the identity of the culprit.

Competition was fierce, but ultimately it was the Master of Loyal Manor, Steve Watkin, together with fellow Lodge members and their partners, who proved to have the sharpest detective instincts and emerged as the winning team.

No evening of investigation should be undertaken on an empty stomach, and guests were treated to an extremely tasty meal with a choice of chicken, beef or vegetarian burgers accompanied by chips — welcome sustenance for the detective work still to come.

With excellent performances, plenty of laughter, good food and an intriguing mystery to unravel, the evening proved a great success. Our thanks go to the Weymouth Drama Club for delivering such a professional and entertaining performance, and to everyone involved in organising the event.
